Tintri offers low-end channel-friendly storage box

Flash storage vendor Tintri is pushing out a low end box - the T1000 - aimed at the SMB and branch office market. It is designed to be a “low touch” product – meaning it will be very distributor-friendly and complementary to existing models, says Tintri’s Darren Gross, Director of EMEA Channels.

The T1000 shares the same OS and management platform as other Tintri all-flash and hybrid storage. That allows it to apply analytics and machine learning to optimise customer operations without manual effort, says the vendor. T1000 is preconfigured for the channel, prepackaged with replication and security focused software, and can be ordered as a single SKU in a customer quote.

“Customers and partners want this,” he says, and we also expect it to become available through additional routes to market.”  The aim is to allow distributors to revisit existing channel partners, including those offering managed services since the T1000 is suitable for cloud service providers with its remote management. The ability to offer a pay-as-you go through the Tintri storage systems is attractive “We see the resellers morphing to offer services, and integrators also shifting from technology to business cases.”

The ROBO or branch office market is a strong market sector for this model, says Darren Gross, and it seems to be doing well in specific verticals such as pharmaceuticals and financial services. “We have ongoing education and drive use cases in the channel.
