Chinese expansion continues: AsiaInfo adds Hungary

Continuing involvement with comms infrastructure brings Chinese software and services player to another eastern European centre

AsiaInfo, a Chinese provider of software and IT services for the telco industry, has announced the opening of its delivery centre in Hungary to support its European expansion, it says.

The new hub, which will serve as its new European Nearshore Delivery Centre (NDC), is located within Telenor Hungary’s headquarters near Budapest as the two companies have just begun working on a major joint project.

Additionally, there are high expectations that the NDC facility would provide support services to at least eight projects at European operators by 2016.

The centre will be headed by AsiaInfo Senior Director Chen Huaping who served in the past as Chief Solution Architect in the Telecoms Business Unit of HP. Along with bringing new experts from China to Europe, the centre will also create around 180 jobs for the local talents. The company plans to target Hungarian developers and fill all the positions within two years.

“Little more than one year after announcing our first major European project, we are now embarking on our second one, and at the same time opening up a major new delivery centre to support our customers and our expanding business,” comments AsiaInfo’s European Managing Director, Alex Hawker.

“The new project in Hungary and the opening of the NDS represent major milestones in our global expansion. This is further evidence that the innovation our Veris BSS Product Suite brings from China is making a real impact in the European marketplace,” adds Huaping.

AsiaInfo specialises in delivery of business support systems (BSS) and operations support systems (OSS) systems for the telecoms. The company is headquartered in Beijing, China, with regional offices in Singapore and the UK.

“AsiaInfo will employ dozens of Hungarian developers, thus keeping local IT talents in Hungary and contributing to the growth of value-adding industries. I am particularly pleased that they are moving into the Telenor House in Törökbálint, further raising our profile as a centre for excellence in telecommunications,” says Christopher Laska, CEO of Telenor Hungary.
