Historic French VAR fails

A 37 year old French VAR working with Microsoft, VMware, NetApp, Citrix and others has been placed into liquidation.The failure of Uhl Bonaventure Informatique (UBI) in eastern France seems to have been a classic case of cashflow as many customers have delayed paying their bills.

EU presses Google for answers

The European Union wants Google to come up with more concessions within weeks if it is to avoid formal charges in an investigation into alleged anti-competitive behaviour. EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia (pictured) says he is still waiting to receive Google's response.

Altran offers employees €100,000 for ideas

French IT group Altran has started its second innovation competition for its staff with a €100,000 prize. THE iPROJECT (where "i" stands for innovation) is designed to promote in-house research and innovation by way of a competition.

France fines Google, demands web statement

The French national data protection agency CNIL has issued a €150,000 penalty on Google, saying that its privacy policy implemented since 1 March 2012 does not comply with the French Data Protection Act.

EMEA service provider routers/switches bounce back

The global carrier router and switch market (IP edge and core routers and carrier Ethernet switches) totaled $3.6bn in 3Q13, an increase of 7% from the year-ago 3rd quarter. Europe/EMEA declined 10% in 3Q13 from 2Q13, an increase of 7% from the year-ago 3rd quarter.
