Currys partners with Microsoft and Accenture to boost cloud infrastructure

Omnichannel retailer Currys has partnered with Microsoft and Accenture to advance its cloud technology infrastructure with AI-driven solutions, aiming to enhance operations and customer experiences.

This collaboration, including the joint venture Microsoft partner Avanade, focuses on modernising and streamlining Currys’ IT systems through Microsoft's AI technologies including Azure OpenAI Service.

The initiative will enable Currys to personalise shopping experiences with AI-powered product recommendations and improved customer insights.

Julie Sweet, chair and CEO, Accenture, said: “Together with Microsoft, we are helping Currys raise the bar in the retail industry, reach new frontiers of performance and efficiency, and create new value and growth.”

As part of its IT overhaul, Currys will migrate nine data centres, over 2,000 servers, and 200 applications to Azure, supporting its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040 and enhancing infrastructure efficiency.
