Managed detection and response provider Expel has announced plans to establish a fully remote workforce in Ireland, creating up to 50 cyber security jobs over the next three years, with the support of the Irish government through inward investment vehicle IDA Ireland.
US-based Expel’s investment is part of its ongoing expansion strategy into the EMEA market, and it aims to tap into Ireland's growing technology ecosystem and skilled talent pool, which includes a significant cyber industry in Dublin and Cork, for instance.
Expel started its entry into the EMEA market in late 2022. Emer Higgins, Ireland’s minister of state for enterprise, trade and employment, said: “We welcome this investment in Ireland's growing cyber security sector. The establishment of Expel’s remote workforce, creating 50 new high-quality jobs, demonstrates the strength of Ireland's position as a hub for innovation and digital expertise.”
Cat Starkey, chief technology officer of Expel, added: “Ireland offers the rare mix of a world-class technology infrastructure, a highly talented workforce, and a cyber security culture that aligns with our own, making our decision to invest in growing our team there an easy one.”
Recently, cyber security expert and industry personality Kevin Mandia joined the board of Expel as a director. He founded security protection firm Mandiant, which was acquired by Google.
