IT managed services company Modern Networks has gained a foothold in the education sector and broadened its services by acquiring Wave9.
The deal establishes a new education division at Modern Networks, poised for notable growth driven by enhanced funding and a focus on infrastructure and security from the Department for Education.
"Tech in education has had a profound impact on the classroom," said Modern Networks CEO Matthew Reeve. "From one-to-one computing environments to online consultations with parents, tech is now used in all aspects of education. There is still a great deal more opportunity for technology to help in education and this is a journey that we all want to go on.
"Our expanded portfolio also allows us to address a wider range of IT requirements and to deliver more specialised and tailored solutions."
Dan Delooze, Vice President at Acuity (which advised Wave 9 on its sale), added: "The Wave 9 Team has built a stand out business in a rapidly developing and fundamentally critical sector, which defines the way that students leverage IT and access online resources in a safe and secure environment."
