Leadership and business unit changes at HPE in a hybrid world

HPE CEO and president Antonio Neri (pictured) has announced business unit leadership and organisational changes at the company, with the aim of improving operations and partner support.

The changes will take effect at the start of the company’s 2024 fiscal year on 1 November, 2023, and include creating a new Hybrid Cloud business unit, to be led by HPE chief technology officer Fidelma Russo.

This business will bring together the HPE GreenLake platform with the technologies and services of HPE Storage, HPE GreenLake Cloud Services Solutions and the current Office of the CTO organisation.

“This new group will accelerate our hybrid cloud strategy as we deliver one portfolio of storage, software, data, and cloud services on the HPE GreenLake platform,” said Neri.

Over the past two years, Russo has led the team that created the HPE GreenLake platform, which is now the central offering for all HPE hybrid cloud solutions.

Within the Hybrid Cloud organisation, Tom Black will assume leadership of the new Private Cloud team, reporting to Russo. For the last three years, he has led the Storage business group through a transformation to a data services business, introducing the HPE Alletra portfolio and the firm’s first storage as-a-service offerings.

In other changes, Vishal Lall will be leaving HPE at the end of the calendar year. He has held a number of leadership positions at HPE over a decade-long career with the company, involved in HPE GreenLake, HPE Aruba, HPE Ezmeral, and Hewlett Packard Pathfinder.

And Pradeep Kumar, head of HPE Services, is retiring from HPE after 27 years at the company. HPE will now put the key operational activities for all products and services under one leader. The HPE Services, supply chain and quote-to-cash operations will be subsumed by the Global Operations organisation led by Mark Bakker.

“By aligning and optimising our systems and processes and streamlining the end-to-end customer and partner experience, we will accelerate digital transformation for HPE and our customers,” Neri said.

“These strategic alignments will enhance the integrated customer and partner experience, strengthen our market position, and accelerate our execution,” he added.
