Hewlett Packard Enterprise is slashing 3,000 jobs from its workforce over the next 18 months, as part of a $350m cost reduction programme.
2,500 will be laid off, and 500 jobs will go through attrition. At the end of October last year, HPE employed 61,000 globally. The jobs cull equates to around 5% of the workforce.
HPE CEO Antonio Neri told analysts last night the layoffs will help the firm “better align” its cost structure to the “business mix” and its “long-term” strategy.
HPE has seen server margins going down, is fearful of the Trump administration’s international tariffs on its business, and is facing US Department of Justice opposition to its $14 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks.
Earlier this week, we reported on thousands of jobs being axed at HP Inc and Autodesk.
