Seagate expands cloud storage service through the channel

Seagate Technology is expanding its Lyve Cloud S3-compatible object storage as-a-service in the UK, with a second data centre in London.

The new data centre will support growing local customer demand, said the provider, allowing easier access to Lyve Cloud and a portfolio of edge-to-cloud solutions, including secure mass data transfer and cloud import services.

Built on Seagate’s Exos enterprise data storage systems, Lyve Cloud aims to provide “industry-leading TCO, scalability and sustainability”. The service complements existing cloud environments, and offers a “simple” storage service without extensive API, egress or object retention fees.

As part of the expansion, Seagate says it has “broadened” its UK Lyve Cloud channel through a new distribution agreement with Climb Channel Solutions, in addition to a long-term collaboration with distributor Exertis, offering a full range of advanced cloud and on-prem storage solutions. Both these distributors were involved with the initial commercial Lyve launch between 2022 and 2023.

“In today’s data-driven world many companies are still unable to tap into the full potential of their data and unlock its business value. The channel community plays a crucial role in addressing our clients’ data challenges,” said Melyssa Banda, VP of systems and services at Seagate.

“We’re offering on-prem storage systems and Lyve services to solution providers, enriching their portfolio of advanced cloud services. Our recent partnerships with leading regional channel distribution partners, like Climb Channel Solutions and Exertis, will enhance availability and support infrastructure for UK resellers and solution providers,” said Banda.
