TD Synnex takes Object First Veeam backup appliances to market

Distributor TD Synnex has signed a UK and Ireland agreement with Object First, the provider of 'ransomware-proof' backup appliances for Veeam workloads.

Object First has been building up it's channel footprint since the company was established by the original founders of Veeam in 2022, and launched it's first appliances commercially in Europe last year. Vitanium became the first Object First reseller in the UK last April.

Object First’s Ootbi (Out-of-the-Box-Immutability) solution provides immutable storage for Veeam backups. The agreement between TD Synnex and Object First will allow Veeam partners to add more value by offering customers protection from ransomware and other cyber threats, while taking advantage of the specialist technical and sales support provided by TD Synnex's team of Veeam experts.

Rachel Paterson, business unit director, infrastructure software, Advanced Solutions, UK, TD Synnex, said: “Object First is a significant addition to our strong portfolio of data protection solutions. With Ootbi, Veeam partners can add more value and deliver exceptionally simple and powerful protection for their end-user customers. And with our deep expertise and understanding of the technology, we can provide all the support they need to deliver complete and immutable backup solutions.”

Pete Hannah, VP sales, Western Europe at Object First, added: “As a leading distributor for Veeam in the UK and Ireland, TD Synnex is perfectly positioned to extend the opportunity Ootbi presents to more Veeam partners. Its simplicity and close integration with Veeam mean that partners can deliver cost-effective protection from ransomware and other cyber threats, without the technical complexity often associated with managing storage infrastructures or the need for security expertise.”

TD Synnex is the only UK distributor to hold Veeam Accredited Service Provider (VASP) status and is able to offer fully-approved professional services on the vendor’s solutions.

Ratmir Timashev and Andrei Baronov, Veeam’s original founders, launched Object First in 2022, to provide on-premise object storage backup for Veeam workloads.

Insight Venture Partners invested $500m into Veeam in January 2019. Veeam was then acquired by Insight for around $5 billion a year later.

The Ootbi appliance is aimed at mid-sized Veeam customers, and can be “racked, stacked, and powered in 15 minutes”, says Object First. The device is accessed using Amazon’s S3 protocol.
