BearingPoint restructures European business

IT services and consulting firm BearingPoint has restructured its European operations into three business units and regions, ten years after the firm was created through a management buyout.

The first unit covers the consulting business with a clear focus on key areas to “drive growth across all regions”, the company said. It has also established a business services unit to provide IP-driven managed services “beyond SaaS” to offer “business critical services”.

A third business unit will provide the software to help the successful digital transformation and customers and address regulatory requirements. It is also designed to explore “innovative business models with clients and partners” by driving the financing and development of startups and leveraging ecosystems.

To create synergies, BearingPoint has also combined its practices into three regions. FBLA (France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Africa) is led by Eric Falque, GSA (Germany, Switzerland, Austria) is led by Iris Grewe, and GROW (Ireland, United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Netherlands) is headed up by James Rodger.

The firm said it is seeking to have “critical mass” in all its practices, which means having at least 100 people in every practice in each region, said the firm.

BearingPoint had record revenues of €738m in 2018 and has grown to employing more than 4,500.

As part of its new Strategy 2025 initiative, the company says it will focus on five key areas to “achieve a clear differentiation in the market”. These are the firm’s culture and principles, its management and technology capabilities, its ability to create IP within ecosystems, its independence and European roots.

In further management changes, Matthias Loebich will lead the markets area of the consulting unit that comprises all industry segments. Damien Palacci is leading the consulting portfolio, which helps functions of companies with innovative offerings. And Patrick Palmgren will lead the newly created third business unit that covers solutions, M&A activities and ventures.

Donald Wachs, who leads the business services unit, and Damien Palacci have joined the management committee of BearingPoint.

Kiumars Hamidian (pictured), managing partner at BearingPoint, said: “It's ten years since we created the independent BearingPoint partnership and our Strategy 2025 builds on our existing strengths and puts people first. We are a European success story because of our strong client relationships, our intellectual property and our people culture.”
