BT's CEO, Philip Jansen, has informed the board of his intention to step down from the company within the next year, initiating a formal succession process.
Having assumed leadership of BT in 2019, Jansen (pictured) has overseen substantial investment in the company’s fibre network expansion, which now covers over 11 million homes and offers 5G service to 68% of the country.
The company's chairman, Adam Crozier, assures that potential successors are being considered, and further updates will be provided during the summer.
He said: “The succession process to replace Philip is something that the Board was well prepared for. In the meantime, it is business as usual, and we are focused on executing our plans and delivering for all our stakeholders.”
