Capgemini says it is planning to hire 1,500 new staff in the UK this year to help meet growing demand for its services, including in cyber security and cloud project management.
The new staff will augment the French-headquartered company's existing 8,800-strong workforce at over 16 locations across the UK - Capgemini’s third largest market outside of France and North America. The company says it will use the recruitment drive to boost the numbers it employs outside London, particularly in Scotland, Wales, Manchester, Liverpool and elsewhere.
There will be a particular focus on recruiting junior talent, with a third of the new workforce expected to be sourced through Capgemini’s long-running graduate and apprentice programmes, which are now in their 10th and 12th years respectively.
Both programmes currently employ almost 600 early careers team members. A further 470 roles will join this community in 2021, representing a programme growth of 100% compared to 2020, said the IT services firm.
Paul Margetts, managing director of Capgemini in the UK, said: “The events of the past year have proved that digital talent is more critical than ever as businesses rapidly accelerate their digital transformation and look to technology, particularly cloud, to solve some of today’s most pressing issues.”
The firm currently employs 270,000 across almost 50 countries and reported global revenues of €16bn in 2020.
