Chinese telecommunications specialist ZTE has announced it has been rewarded a wireless project contract from COSMOTE Romania, a mobile operator in the Balkans. Under the terms of the agreement, ZTE will transform COSMOTE’s existing 2G/3G network and build a new LTE network in southern Romania.
The deal will also require to construct of around 3,000 base stations across the country, it says.

The LTE network of COSMOTE Romania will use the world’s most advanced products and solutions to enhance the customer experience. We will employ ZTE’s best resources to make the project a successful one,” says Xiong Hui, SVP of ZTE.
COSMOTE Group is based in Greece with major operations in the Balkan countries, including Romania and Albania, and with Deutsche Telekom being its largest shareholder.
