Cockroach scurries into EMEA database market

Cockroach Labs, which offers the cloud-native distributed SQL database CockroachDB, has directly entered the EMEA region with a new office in London.

The City of London office will serve as the firm’s EMEA headquarters, as the US company scales up its cloud database-as-a-service offering after recent increased funding from investors.

The company is also planning a Germany office and others in the region, as well as currently recruiting for various EMEA sales, support and marketing roles.

Cockroach recently hired Gareth Whiting as its EMEA vice president of sales. He was previously at Sumo Logic and Delphix.

EMEA customers already include THG, Form3, ConverseNow, Clowd9, epiFi, Lush, Optimal Systems and Salto, and Cockroach expects the region to generate 20% of its sales by the end of the year.

The company says it is Google Cloud Run’s first database partner, helping organisations to run containers.
