Huawei plans logistics centre in Netherlands

With closer relations with Dutch government, comms giant looks to boost local presence

Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, which has been present in the Dutch market since 2004, has announced its plans to build its local digital infrastructure and set up a logistics centre in Eindhoven and fully leverage both of its technology and logistics advantages to better serve European clients, it says. The company currently employs around 650 people, of which almost 80% are locally sourced.

Additionally, Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei met in March with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to discuss future Huawei’s role in constructing the ICT infrastructure in the Netherlands.

“Huawei has been active in our country for many years, where it continues to make a significant contribution to digitising the Netherlands, for example, building 4G networks, providing intranets for local governments, and installing Wi-Fi in Amsterdam’s football stadium. I am pleased that we can continue our excellent cooperation and strengthen it even further,” adds Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

“Huawei has established a series of Centres of Excellence in the Netherlands, leveraging the nation’s open and stable business environment. The next two to three decades are a crucial period, as traditional society transforms into an information-based society. Huawei will deploy its most advanced products and expertise around the world to propel the digitisation process,” says Ren Zhengfei.
