New big data research centre opens in Denmark

Four year project to look at algorithms, data flow and machine learning

DABAI, the Danish Centre for Big Data Analytics and Innovations, will focus on research based innovative solutions based on Big Data that will advance and contribute to the Danish society. The project is expected to run for the next four years.

The initiative to set up a Big Data centre was brought to life thanks to the alliance of universities, including the University of Copenhagen, as well as other public and private organisations. Additionally, the Danish Innovation Foundation, an organisation that invests under DKK1.6bn (€0.2bn) in new initiatives creating growth and employment in Denmark, has joined the project as one of the main sponsors.

DABAI is expected to help the country move to the technological frontier in Big Data research as well as in delivery of practical solutions to the society, it says. The project also includes the improvement in the governmental administrative as well as it is aimed at both private and public companies that are involved in Denmark’s digital development.

However, the project will focus on three main areas: algorithms, strengthening the speed of data flow and machine learning for diagnostic purposes such as medical science and data analysis and management.
