Oracle has announced the continued expansion of its cloud interoperability partnership with Microsoft with a new cloud interconnect at its recently opened location in Amsterdam. The partnership aims to deliver more efficient and lower latency access to their joint applications for service providers and customers.
The Netherlands interconnect means enterprises can build workloads that “seamlessly” interoperate between Microsoft Azure and Oracle cloud regions within the European Union data jurisdiction, said Oracle.
The expansion builds on an existing partnership and cloud interconnectivity started in the US in June 2019 and which was extended to London later that summer.
The Oracle-Microsoft interconnect locations are important for businesses wanting to put more of their data and workloads into the cloud and who need to use cloud service providers who are experts in their mission-critical data and applications.
Oracle and Microsoft are also providing integrated identity and access management so customers don’t have to manage multiple passwords when accessing their cloud resources and applications.
“The collaborative support model and global partner ecosystem add to the enterprise-class experience,” said the two partners.
Andrew Sutherland, SVP EMEA for Oracle Cloud, said: “Our new interconnect in Amsterdam is good news for many businesses that rely on software from both companies. They can share applications and it will make it faster and easier for customers to run a combination of Oracle and Microsoft software.”
As well as London and Amsterdam, Oracle has cloud regions in Frankfurt and Zurich in Europe. It is planning to open another in Newport, Wales by the end of this year.
