Precisely expands mainframe services offering with DTS acquisition

Data services firm Precisely has acquired DTS Software, a global mainframe storage optimisation software provider. The deal underscores Precisely’s commitment to delivering end-to-end solutions for optimising the integrity and value of enterprise data, whether it resides in the cloud, on-premises, or hybrid environments, said the provider.

According to a 2024 Forrester report, among global infrastructure hardware decision-makers, 61% said their firm uses a mainframe. Of those that use mainframes, 54% indicated their organisation would increase its use of a mainframe over the next two years.

“The addition of DTS Software to Precisely is a strategic step in expanding our mainframe optimisation offerings and expertise,” said Josh Rogers, CEO, Precisely. “DTS’ technologies are a natural fit with our IBM mainframe solutions that enable enterprises to drive new levels of efficiency, while meeting the demands of data-driven decision-making.”

DTS is a specialist in mainframe storage management, providing organisations with tools to manage, automate, and optimise their data storage infrastructures. The company’s solutions are used by large global enterprises across a wide range of industries, including insurance, banking, financial services, and retail, to maximise storage performance and optimise operational efficiencies.

“Joining Precisely opens an exciting new chapter for DTS,” said Mati Szeszkowski, founder and CEO, Norland Capital, and DTS Software investor. “For the thousands of leading enterprises that run on mainframes, this means offering them highly differentiated solutions for efficiently navigating the challenges of rapid data growth and evolving infrastructure requirements.”
