Record Awards entries show European software strength

Late rush of entries takes total beyond last year's

Reports from the last week of entries to the European IT & Software Excellence Awards, the only pan-European awards that recognise real world solutions, show a late rush which means that this year's numbers are even better than last year, itself a record.

The Awards aim to support what is delivered by the IT and Comms channel and the application developers, as well as channel support and partnerships with suppliers, so this is an encouraging sign of strength in the European industry, says John Garratt, editor of IT Europa, who chairs the judges panel. “We have seen some great projects being put forward, many showing just how rapidly the industry is moving to software-as-a-service, and with a strong security component, reflecting change in the real world,” he says.

There has been a surge of interest in supporting channel programmes, a new category in the suppliers' section, and the usual healthy engagement from across Europe, with a major push from eastern European developers reflected in the scale and quality of their entries. The judging starts next week, with finalists set to be announced when complete; the eventual winners will be announced at Gala dinner on April 14 at the Lancaster London Hotel with a celebrity guest presenter.

This evening event will take place following the European Software & Solutions Summit 2016  in the same venue, where the strategic thinkers from the European software industry gather to discuss issues such as meeting the demands of a revitalised and changing industrial sector and managing the process of change within their own organisations.
