Following the acquisition of distributor Sigma by Nasdaq-listed Wayside Technology Group last November, Sigma will now operate under Wayside's global Climb Channel Solutions brand.
Climb previously focused on the North American market, before the acquisition, but has already started to use Devon, England-based Sigma as an operational stepping stone into more European markets for its solutions.
“Climb and Sigma have similar challenger-brand mindsets, as well as sharing many vendor relationships - especially in the emerging technology space,” said Dale Foster, president of Climb Channel Solutions.
“This made Sigma the perfect acquisition and it has also made the integration much smoother - the teams understand each other and are focused on doing what’s best for our partners to create growth and market efficiencies,” Foster added.
Climb says it is investing in two key areas: Cloud Know How, Climb’s professional services division, which offers cloud migration, modernisation and on-going infrastructure management. In addition, there is Climb’s indirect CSP programme and cloud marketplace, Climb Expedition - which is being expanded across both EMEA and North America.
The latter has been designed to help VARs support their customers’ journey to the cloud and open more opportunities for vendors.
“We’re taking the best parts of each business and investing in them to build a stronger proposition all under a single global brand,” said Jane Silk (pictured), Climb VP of distribution for EMEA and Sigma’s former managing director.
Last month, Climb was brought in by cyber security vendor Palo Alto Networks to handle both its Prisma Access and Prisma SD-WAN solutions. Last December, Climb sealed new distribution partnerships with Puppet, the DevOps infrastructure automation specialist, and SUSE for its open source solutions.
