Swedish consultant wins Finland e-identification deal

Finnish public administration transformation to be speeded up

Sweden-based IT consulting company Cybercom has secured a contract for digitalisation of public services in Finland which is a part of a national e-identification infrastructure.

The total value of transaction stands at €2 -2.5m and the project is scheduled to run from 2015 to 2017.

Finland aims to speed up the whole development process of e-identification in the country with a goal to simplify the electronic access to organisations and authorities for the citizens without compromising the system’s security and in compliance with the EU’s regulations. Cybercom, which has been selected by the Population Register Centre, will design and deploy the digital service solutions across the Finish public administration sector. The company will also manage the e-identification services and authorise the rights related to it.

This is not the first project for Cybercom in Finland as it has been working currently also on implementation of a service view that combines all public administration services into a single service. The new solution aims to strengthen the authentication for users wishing to view confidential information regarding their tax, vehicle or property. This project was estimated at €2-2.75m.

“The starting point is that people will be able to use a number of identification methods in the future as well. The most important thing is that the identification method feels familiar and safe to the users. To ensure this, we are designing and implementing a flexible solution,” says director at Cybercom, Timo Laaksonen.
