The UK Government aims to recruit 2,500 tech professionals by June 2025 through apprenticeships and talent programmes.
The plan is to hire 500 this year via an apprenticeship scheme followed by 1,300 apprenticeships and 700 roles from expanded digital programmes.
A new Digital Secondments Programme invites private sector talent to join.
This strategy seeks a 6% representation in digital, data, and technology roles within the Civil Service.
Between April 2022-23, the Civil Service Digital sector grew by 19%, with over 600 top officials trained in digital skills.
Minister for the Cabinet Office Jeremy Quin, said: “By attracting and retaining the best talent, we will keep pace with technological change and deliver more efficient services for the British public.”
This announcement aligns with the Central Digital and Data Office's 2022-25 roadmap, pressing departments to modernise outdated IT systems.
