German reseller Bechtle is transforming its Rostock site into a central hub for Planet AI's artificial intelligence applications following the completion of multiple AI deep learning projects funded by the EU and the state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania.
State Secretary Jochen Schulte has supported the expansion and suggested potential further funding.
He said: "The growth of Planet AI underscores our commitment to bolstering the existing AI ecosystem in Rostock, where we already have a network of university researchers and industrial applications backed by the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania among others.
"Together, our aim is to continue to broaden digitalisation expertise in SMEs to promote economic success and innovations."
Planet AI, a specialist in AI-driven document analysis and process automation, has been majority-owned by Bechtle since October 2023.
This partnership aims to combine practical AI research with Bechtle’s marketing capabilities to enhance Germany and Europe's AI ecosystem.
Michael Guschlbauer, COO of IT system house and managed services at Bechtle, added: "Together with Planet AI, we are taking the next step and expanding the Rostock site to become our central AI innovations hub.”
