Global end-user cybersecurity spending is projected to increase by over 15% in 2025, reaching $212bn, according to new predictions from Gartner.
This growth is largely driven by the adoption of AI, especially generative AI (GenAI), which is pushing investments in security across various areas.
Since the launch of GenAI tools, threat actors have increasingly used LLMs in social engineering, with Gartner predicting 17% of cyberattacks will involve GenAI by 2027.
However, senior research principal Shailendra Upadhyay noted, “The continued heightened threat environment, cloud movement, and talent crunch are pushing security to the top of the priorities list and pressing chief information security officers to increase their organisation’s security spend.
“Furthermore, organisations are currently assessing their endpoint protection platform and endpoint detection and response needs and making adjustments to boost their operational resilience and incident response following the CrowdStrike outage.”
The global security skills shortage will also drive increased investment in services, with consulting, professional, and managed services expected to grow faster than any other segment.
Gartner forecasts that in 2025, security software spending will rise by 15.1% to $100.7bn, security services by 15.6% to $88.1bn, and network security by 13.1% to $24.8bn.
