Hurricane Electric improves Polish service provider connectivity

Hurricane Electric has added a third point-of-presence (PoP) in Poland to better support colocation and managed service provider customers in the region. The global data connectivity provider has located the PoP at Quicktel’s 4 Data Center in Katowice, southern Poland.

The new PoP will provide additional high-speed connectivity options for other networks and local internet providers, as well as service provider customers using the data centre.

“Central Europe is an important growth area for Hurricane Electric’s global expansion and we’re delighted to provide cost-effective and high-speed connectivity options for Katowice,” said Mike Leber, president of US-headquartered Hurricane Electric. “This new PoP will help meet the business demands of enterprises in this high growth area.”

Existing customers at 4 Data Center and those in and near Katowice now have a variety of new connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s global IPv4 and IPv6 network, through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet) ports. Hurricane is connected to more than 250 major internet exchange points worldwide.

Last August, Hurricane Electric added a new PoP at e-shelter's data centre in the Spandau district of Berlin, Germany. And last October, it entered the Greek connectivity market directly by adding a PoP at the Lamda Hellix data centre campus on the outskirts of Athens.
