Global services firm Atos is acquiring Motiv ICT Security, the independent managed security services (MSS) provider headquartered in the Netherlands. The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, will expand Atos’ capabilities in threat detection and response and add Motiv’s sovereign security operations centre (SOC) to Atos’ network of global SOCs - giving its international customers further security coverage.
Atos will also add over 180 Motiv cyber-security experts, together with the Motiv Academy, known for its ability to fast-track new talent into SOC operational deployment. Motiv is the second acquisition in this space for Atos this year, having purchased global MSSP Paladion in the summer. “This latest acquisition will bring specialist security insight of significant value to our operations and customers,” said Atos.
Atos' capabilities in digital transformation will be offered to Ijsselstein-headquartered Motiv’s customer base of more than 100 large and mid-tier customers in the public sector, law enforcement, financial services and healthcare sectors, while opening new opportunities for Motiv to increase its footprint further across the Netherlands and Northern Europe.
Pierre Barnabé, senior executive vice-president for big data and cyber-security at Atos, said: “Motiv supports Atos’ digital security vision for converged business-driven security, enabled by sovereign capability and customer intimacy and made possible through its end-to-end security services.
“This strategic acquisition further confirms Atos’ leadership in the European cyber-security services market.”
Aksel Dorèl, CEO of Motiv, said: “By joining forces with Atos we accelerate on our mission to support the secure digital transformation of our customers, unlocking the full potential of Atos’ global cyber-security services and capabilities.”
The closing of the transaction is expected to take place in Q1 2021 and is subject to customary anti-trust filings.
