IT provider Managed IT Services Group (MITSG) has acquired CSS Group, a UK-based IT managed services provider, its largest acquisition to date, bringing the total headcount of MITSG to 70 with staff based throughout the UK.
CSS Group is made up of three firms: Charles Street Solutions, MICL and Opus UK. All specialise in IT services to the legal and professional services sectors.
MITSG is headed by the former GCI executive team, comprising of Mark Allen, CFO, and Phil Smith, COO, with GCI’s former CEO Adrian Thirkill serving as non-executive chairman. The group says it has been pulled together through director and private investment and has an aggressive expansion strategy.
“The acquisition of CSS is the ideal time to ‘announce ourselves’ as a new player on the UK managed services space and give us the scale needed to aggressively target the UK small and medium business market,” said Allen. “We believe SMEs in the UK, are currently poorly served with providers that are either too small to offer the full complement of IT services, or too big to care. Many of the former are ‘generalists’ meaning they have a broad portfolio of tenuously related services, which lack the credibility of a genuine technology specialist.”
This is the latest in a series of acquisitions that MITSG has made since its foundation. In the last year alone, MITSG acquired cloud services firm IT Farm in May 2021, followed by SIP Carrier contact centre specialist Nexbridge Communications in August 2021.
“MITSG has been established to offer SMEs the full range of managed services across four distinct specialist units: cloud and remote desktop, networks and security, voice and contact centre, and IT managed services. Each of these units is staffed by experts in their given areas,” Smith added. “There will be further acquisitions by the group throughout 2022 to allow us to create depth and balance in our product and service portfolio.”
The financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed by both parties.
