European data centre operator DEAC has announced it is planning to build a new, large data centre in Latvia.
The new Riga data centre will be a 10 MW facility with up to 1000 server racks as it seeks to achieve international Tier III certification.
The facility will use on-site solar panels, be powered entirely by renewable energy and use backup power provided by MY Neste Diesel.
"This is an incredible opportunity to build a new data centre that meets companies' needs while also caring for our environment," said DEAC's CEO, Andris Gailitis.
DEAC, owned by an infrastructure investment fund managed by Quaero Capital, says it serves thousands of customers in more than 40 countries by providing IT services and has points of presence in the major cities of Central and Eastern Europe.
"Together with the data centre operator DLC, DEAC offers two primary locations in Riga and Vilnius and is quickly growing to become the Baltics' most significant and comprehensive data centre network," added Quaero Capital managing partner Sebastien Bourget.
Last year, the firm expanded its partner network by adding Data Center Logistics (DLC) data centres in Vilnius, Lithuania.
