Niche specialisation and automation tipped as key for MSPs

Niche specialisation and automation are key for MSPs to scale their business further and carve out a differentiated position in a saturated managed services market, according to Managed Services Summit (MSS) panellists Sam Callaghan, Director of International Sales at ConnectWise, and Neil Stobart, VP of Global System Engineering from Cloudian.

In the panel session ‘Consolidation and Automation - The Way Forward’ at the twelfth annual MSS at etc. venues, Bishopsgate in London, Callaghan emphasised niche specialisation can give MSPs a competitive edge.

“Because this is a competitive space, it’s vital to pick a niche and specialise in that business niche. The intended benefit of doing that is that MSPs can become an expert in that industry. It's not solely about delivering the technology; it is about using technology such as automation to deliver business outcomes, Sam Callaghan. Director of International Sales at ConnectWise told attendees.

“If you focus on the fundamentals and take advantage of the partnerships, information and technology that is available, there is a bright future for MSP businesses.”

Stobart agreed, insisting that differentiation – either through niche specialisation or collaboration  – provides MSPs with the ability to stand out in today’s crowded marketplace. “Work with and don’t compete is a vital thing to consider when forming collaborations to help differentiate yourself in today’s marketplace,” he said.
