AB Group looks to expand further outside Poland

Distributor builds on growth in household appliances, gaming and signage; investment in e-commerce is paying off

Polish AB Group has reported a record-breaking quarter, claiming a growing position in IT and Consumer Electronics distribution in Poland and the CEE region. The subsidiary ATC, which operates in the Czech Republic and Slovakia is doing well and the group is thinking about further expansion outside of Poland.

It has reported a number of business projects in a stage of dynamic growth, such as radio and television/household appliances (+85%), gaming (+228%) and digital signage (+250%); as well as a +45% yr/yr sales growth through e-commerce tools.

AB aims to keep investing in e-commerce and in the 'games accessories' segment with its high-margin products. The VAD segment has posted slightly weaker results due to a decline in the public sector IT spending.

Andrzej Przybyło, President of the Management Board of AB SA says “Not only the revenue, but also the profits generated by AB Group in the last quarter grew more strongly than in the last financial year, which ended in June 2016. Real growth was even higher due to the fact that since Q4 2015 the depreciation costs of the new distribution centre have to be calculated (approx. 1 million PLN / quarter net) as well as bearing the costs of its financing (investment worth 129 million PLN, 24 million PLN grant from EU).”

AB Group claims 16,500 active customers in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
