atNorth expands in Nordics with new data centre in Finland

atNorth has further expanded its Nordic footprint with the launch of a new 'mega site' data centre, in Kouvola, Finland.

The new FIN04 site, which is the firm’s tenth in the Nordics and fourth in Finland, is part of atNorth's strategic expansion.

atNorth’s CEO, Eyjolfur Magnus Kristinsson, said: “This agreement is yet another hallmark moment for atNorth. Kouvola is a critical location for our next site as we continue to expand and meet the growing demand for high performance services.”

Developed in partnership with the city of Kouvola and KSS Energia, FIN04 features advanced heat reuse technology, enabling the recycling of excess heat for local community use.

Marita Toikka, Mayor of Kouvola, added: “We welcome business investment from responsible companies like atNorth who see the benefit in helping to advance digitalisation in an environmentally responsible way.”

The FIN04 facility follows atNorth’s recent acquisition of two Finnish data centres and a third under construction, alongside plans for a 30MW data centre in Denmark, set to launch by late 2024.
