BCS appoints IBM's Rashik Parmar as CEO

Rashik Parmar, formerly VP Technology for IBM in Europe, will assume the role of BCS CEO on 1 October, replacing Rob Deri, who remains part of the senior executive team.

During his 40-plus years tenure at IBM, Rashik (pictured) was responsible for creating and driving the firm’s EMEA technical strategy with a focus on guiding companies toward digital transformation and cloud computing.

Rashik was also awarded an MBE for his contributions to helping local businesses and his work at IBM’s Academy of Technology. He also chairs BCS’ Fellows Technical Advisory Group (F-TAG).

Rashik said: “I became a member of BCS in 1981 as a student because I wanted to show my commitment to making IT Good for Society, as well as being proud to have professional recognition.

“I want to create a global community of trusted, ethical professionals from cyber security to climate change, who all care about growing diversity and inclusion in their fields, and closing the digital divide.”
