Competitors target Symantec customers as company leavers list lengthens

A wave of layoffs and job moves at Symantec following its acquisition by Broadcom has competitors circling its customers with transfer offers and many of its former senior staff move to other IT security companies. Among the senior staff, Symantec Enterprise global sales leader Marc Andrews left late last year and this month has seen the departure of Chris Brown, Senior Director Global System Integrators & Service Providers, EMEA and Nathan Eames, Director: EMEA Cloud Solution Providers and Public Cloud at Symantec. Many are moving to other security vendors - Darren Thomson, previously CTO & Head of Technology Services, EMEA Region, is now Head of Cyber Security Strategy at CyberCube.

Rival vendor Webroot launched a campaign this month targeting Symantec’s SMB customers with the theme “Fed up with Symantec? Level up with Webroot.”

It says, “Symantec’s recent acquisition has left many of its small business customers exasperated with the level of service they’ve been receiving” and offers a free trial of Webroot Business Endpoint Protection.
