Dropbox opens Benelux office

Region has many users, channels through distribution; business changes logo

Dropbox, a cloud storage and personal cloud specialist, has announced plans to grow its presence in Europe with the opening of its new office in Amsterdam to serve the Benelux region and future plans to set up another regional centre, with another regional office in Hamburg for the DACH region.

Many did not spot a subtle logo change at the end of last year: new one below the old.......

Also at the end of last year the company made an announcement that it would start hosting customer data within Europe from 2016 and has now confirmed these plans starting in the third quarter and that the data will be hosted in Germany. Additionally, the company has said it will a third-party provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host business customer file contents in Europe.

The new office in the Netherlands will be run by Country Manager Chris Moojen who has joined from Google where he was Sales Lead for the Benelux countries and European Lead for Innovation. Dopbox has also hired ex-SAP-er Oliver Bluher as its new head for DACH market. Prior to this, Bluher ran SAP Germany’s cloud enterprise sales for over five years and served as Chief of Staff for the CEO, SAP.

According to Dropbox estimates, over 75% of its users are outside of the US with a significant portion of the European businesses and consumers and it sees a growing momentum across the continent.

In Benelux the company estimates that almost 49% of the internet population are Dropbox users and Ingram Micro is the distribution partner for the region with other partners for the Benelux market including Comparex, Comsoft Direct, Scholten Awater and Dell. The move to increase its presence in new regions in Europe follows the earlier decisions to set up the European headquarters in Dublin three years ago and open its London office in 2015.
