Pan-European distributor Exertis has appointed Vishal Chhatralia (pictured) to the newly created role of chief digital officer. He will be responsible for devising and implementing strategies focussing on customer experience, marketing and operational efficiencies to “drive frictionless trade and expansion” of digital technologies across the organisation, said Exertis.
Chhatralia joins from Electrocomponents (known as RS Components), where he has spent 15 years in senior roles across category management and digital, most recently as global senior vice president for innovation. At RS, said Exertis, he was instrumental in successfully leading their digital transformation strategy worldwide, “resulting in £1bn being traded online per annum”.
Chhatralia said: “Exertis has clearly grown exponentially over the last few years and driving digital innovation and transformation globally is a key strategy. I am looking forward to the challenge of taking the business on a digital journey to exploit the opportunities that exist across sales, customer service and marketing to create a world class customer experience.”
Chhatralia will be reporting to both Tim Griffin, Exertis Group managing director, and Paul Bryan, managing director for Exertis UK&I. Griffin said: “This is a key role for the Exertis Group as we look to exploit opportunities to deliver projects that create value by improving our customer engagement and loyalty, driving additional revenue and achieving new operational efficiencies.
“Vish is a highly experienced leader, with a proven track record in generating innovative digital and e-commerce solutions. He is the ideal person to expand our digital transformation initiatives across the Exertis Group, that not only create a competitive advantage for our business but also generate exciting opportunities for our partners, customers, suppliers and employees.”
