HP bits faces tough rebranding exercise

New rules on what to call the two bits of HP are confusing

Splitting the old HP business in two means having to build an identity again for both parts with channels and customers. It will not be easy to make this work – the naming rules it uses are complex enough: Hewlett Packard Enterprise should only be referenced as “Hewlett Packard Enterprise” or abbreviated as “HPE”, never “HP Enterprise”.

And the other part, HP Inc. should only be referenced as “HP Inc.” and not be abbreviated in any way, such as “HP”. Most people leave out the “inc.” bit when referring to companies, so this will be an uphill struggle.

And how to refer quickly to the enterprise part of the old HP without calling it HP Enterprise? Good luck with this, guys.
