HPE has enhanced its wireless offerings through the acquisition of cellular networking specialist, Athonet.
This move provides telcos an opportunity to penetrate the connected edge market, according to Tom Craig GM, Communications Technology Group, HPE.
He said: “One of the paramount challenges telcos have faced over the years is generating new revenue from their networks. The monetisation of network infrastructure has become increasingly complex as hyperscalers continue to extend their footprint into the telecom space.
“Telcos need to find ways to create value beyond basic data delivery and unlock new revenue-generating services and can achieve this through the emergence of private 5G networks.”
