Ingram Micro is the latest distributor to build on its retail connections: its Supply Chain Solutions (IMSCS)division has cut a deal with Media Saturn Nordic Shared Services AB in Sweden to provide Media Markt with e-commerce fulfilment.
Media Saturn Nordic Shared Services is a subsidiary of Media-Saturn Holding GmbH, Europe’s largest retailer for consumer electronics, with over 900 stores in 15 countries. The e-commerce fulfilment agreement expands the cooperation between both companies, building on the existing centralised consolidation hub. Ingram Micro will streamline Media Markt’s operations in Sweden to provide better availability of products to retail outlets as well as providing direct-to-consumer fulfilment of orders placed through Media Markt’s online store.
Using the central consolidation hub will enable Media Markt to handle both online orders as well as replenishment of retail outlets from a single pool of inventory. This will provide shortened lead times, increased customer satisfaction, environmental benefits, as well as cost savings, it says.
