Ixia’s ThreatARMOR added by distributor Exclusive Networks

Adds another layer of protection and reduces firewall impact

Ixia’s ThreatARMOR, now available through distributor Exclusive Networks, offers another layer of threat protection for enterprises. IT blocks known-bad IP addresses and access from within the organisation. It fits in well with existing security measures, claims Ixia, and will reduce the loads on elements such as firewalls and reduces IT department involvement in incidents.

Mark Chaplain, VP of Europe for Ixia, tells IT Europa that this is complementary to other solutions, particularly good at reducing traffic to potentially overloaded firewalls. Channels can demonstrate its effect by showing the dashboard of rejected IPs and stats reports in the logs. With the UK set to double government level spending on cybercrime reduction and major enterprises set to follow its lead, this is a market that is set to grow strongly, he says. Distributor Exclusive will start a push on the product early in 2016; its UK country manager Graham Jones saying that it will allow resellers who have already supplied Palo Alto and Fortinet to return to customers with an upgraded protection solution: “Its a layer on top for solutions selling”

ThreatARMOR works with existing security infrastructures, decreasing the volume of security alerts generated and freeing IT resources to focus on critical issues, it says. Enterprise security tools inspect all traffic, including that which shouldn’t be on the network at all, such as malicious IPs, hijacked IPs, and unassigned or unused IP space/addresses.

Priced at around $20000, it also uses Ixia's Application and Threat Intelligence (ATI) program for continuous updating with data about malicious IPs, hijacked IPs and unassigned or unused IP addresses.
