Cloud Technology Solutions (CTS) has secured a new contract with JPIMedia to migrate the publisher's IT systems to Google Cloud.
As part of the contract, CTS, one of Europe’s largest Google Cloud partners, will lead migration onto Google Cloud and work on an accelerated programme to modernise JPI’s IT system to improve its operational efficiency.
The migration is supposed to help the publisher, owners of regional newspapers including The Scotsman, the Yorkshire Post and Portsmouth News, to save money and grow its digital content.
“Too often we see businesses that take the approach that once they have migrated to the cloud, their modernisation journey is complete,” said Tom Ray (pictured), managing director at CTS. “In partnership with Google Cloud, we’re challenging customers to think bigger and evolve an IT estate that is optimised in terms of cost and fit-for-purpose for the future of their businesses.”
JPIMedia will use the savings created from the migration to enable it to provide improved subscription models to customers seeking local news in their areas.

The partnership follows JPIMedia’s acquisition by National World earlier this year as it seeks to digitise elements of its business.
