IBM spinoff Kyndryl has formed a global network and edge alliance with Finnish telecoms vendor Nokia to help enterprise customers digitally transform with LTE and 5G private wireless connectivity services.
The duo will bring together Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) application platform with Kyndryl’s portfolio of consulting, design, implementation and managed services to assist customers transition to Industry 4.0.
The alliance has already enabled real-world private wireless deployments and proof of concept (PoC) applications for Dow, spanning worker safety and collaboration, asset tracking and other Industry 4.0-enabled use cases.
“By collaborating with Nokia, we have taken a new step in helping our customers unleash the power of LTE and 5G through a safe and private environment,” said Paul Savill, global practice leader of network & edge computing at Kyndryl. “We can provide customised, enterprise-grade edge solutions to deliver value and deliver the next generation of customer experience."
Both firms will jointly provide solutions on LTE and 5G standards to address marketplace opportunities that already leverage the industrial ecosystem available with LTE, while paving the way for significant 5G enhancements.

The two firms said they also plan to explore and develop new integrated solutions and services for 5G core, the software technology for network operations.
