AV solutions specialist Midwich has acquired a majority stake in Cooper Projects Limited, the parent company of UK-based video security products distributor DVS Limited (DVS).
DVS, which works primarily with video security systems provider HikVision, was founded in 2003 as a specialist distributor of CCTV and associated video recording technologies.
However, Midwich claims DVS has diversified its portfolio in recent years to include complementary technologies such as access control, intercom and intruder detection.
DVS offers solutions to customers across key verticals including the corporate, retail and residential markets, among others. Its services include project design, ongoing technical support, training and a proprietary installer programme that connects end-users with DVS customers in their geographic and technology areas.
The acquisition gives Midwich access to a segment of the security market, where it currently has little presence but is forecasted to grow around 8% per year for the next five years, according to Stephen Fenby, Midwich Group's managing director.
“The knowledge and support of the experienced DVS team should help realise new opportunities for our customers in an increasingly converging technology market,” he said. “Similarly, we believe that much of DVS’s extensive customer base uses or could use our core AV products in their projects.”
Tim Goodson, managing director of DVS, added: “At DVS we have always had ambitious growth plans and combining with Midwich gives us a unique offering to both of our loyal customer bases. We are super excited to be part of the Midwich group, which has a wealth of experience and knowledge that we can utilise to make sure our ambitious plans are met as we look to grow DVS.”
