Over half (57%) of organisations are set to adopt AI, with a quarter already integrating it and 32% planning to in the next two years, a Spiceworks 2024 State of IT survey indicates.
IT budgets are also on the rise for two-thirds (66%) of companies, fueled by the need to upgrade IT infrastructure, prioritise IT projects, and address security concerns, the study found.
Carlos Salas, a cybersecurity expert at NordLayer said: "The fact that two-thirds of organisations are boosting their IT budgets for 2024 is an encouraging sign that businesses recognise the role technology plays in driving innovation and competitiveness.
“As AI adoption accelerates, allocating adequate resources for cybersecurity will be crucial to safeguarding these cutting-edge technologies and the sensitive data they process.”
NordLayer’s 2023 findings also highlight that cybersecurity solutions and employee training are key IT spending areas, with 35% of businesses allocating up to a quarter of their budget to IT, and 32% dedicating up to half.
However, only 3% of mainly small companies reported no cybersecurity investment plans for 2023.
