Rackspace names UK head as part of expansion

Rackspace has appointed Andy Brierley (pictured) as General Manager for the UK, as part of a “strategic and significant” investment in the EMEA market.

This announcement aligns with its investment in the EMEA market and follows the recent appointment of EMEA Managing Director Martin Blackburn, as well as General Managers for the Netherlands, Germany and the Middle East. Rackspace is also announcing its expansion into the Middle East. The launch of the new office in Dubai will enable Rackspace to better serve more than 500 existing customers in the region and support the dynamic, growing cloud market, it says.

Andy Brierley joins from IBM where he has more than 20 years’ experience, most recently as Vice President and Executive Partner for Cloud Application Innovation in their Global Business Services division. Andy’s other experience at IBM includes seven years as the Vice President of IT Systems Integration and Consulting in their Global Technology Services division, and four years as Vice President of Strategic Outsourcing.

“Rackspace has long been the UK market leader for technology services thanks to its customer-first approach and continuous evolution with the changing cloud market – and not to mention that it has been repeatedly named one of the Best Places to Work in the country as a result of the amazing Racker culture,” Brierley commented.

“The EMEA market is a strategic priority for Rackspace and I am delighted to have Andy Brierley leading our largest team in the region. I know that with his ambition and specialist expertise we’re only going to be better placed to accelerate the value of the cloud for new and existing customers,” said Martin Blackburn, General Manager, EMEA at Rackspace.
