Redcentric to buy up to 3 data centres from Sungard

Redcentric Solutions (RSL) has announced it is buying up to three data centres after the UK branch of Sungard Availability Services entered into administration in March.

The MSP said the deal is expected to close at in the next 23 days, with contracts conditional on certain revenue thresholds being met and Sungard DC customers agreeing on new contract terms.

If the thresholds are not met in relation to each of the Sungard data centres, the acquisition of the relevant data centre will not be completed, the managed services firm claims.

"Following completion of the capability acquisitions of Piksel Industry Solutions Ltd and 7 Elements Ltd in September 2021 and March 2022 respectively, this acquisition is the first scale acquisition completed by Redcentric, in line with its strategy,” said Peter Brotherton, CEO of Redcentric.

Redcentric said the acquisition of all three Sungard data centres will be between a minimum of £11m and a possible maximum of £22m.

Pursuant to the performance criteria, which expire twelve months following completion, there is a potential further up to £7.625m payable.

“The Sungard DCs principally provide colocation and cloud services which complement the Redcentric offering perfectly,” Brotherton continued. “In addition, the Sungard DCs come with a superb blue chip customer base and should the acquisitions complete, they provide Redcentric with an exciting opportunity to accelerate its growth."

In addition, Redcentric also announced that it has completed the acquisition of Sungard UK’s consulting and AWS cloud services business, for a consideration of £4.2m, paid in cash.
