Zero Trust data security firm Rubrik has bolstered its security stance with the appointment of Chris Krebs, who will be joining as chair of the firm’s new CISO advisory board.
Before joining Rubrik, Krebs (pictured) had previously served as the first director of CISA, The Department of Homeland Security and Microsoft’s U.S. Government Affairs team.
In his new role, Krebs will be responsible for creating and leading a strategic CISO advisory board to help private and public sector corporate clients address today’s cyber crisis, such as ransomware attacks.

Every organization is vulnerable to cyber-attacks and we must do everything possible to change the trajectory,” said Bipul Sinha, CEO and co-founder of Rubrik. “Chris has experience navigating and resolving some of the most significant cyber attacks of the decade and is uniquely positioned to chair this new CISO advisory board. Together, we will resolve the cybersecurity dilemma every government and organisation faces.”
Krebs will also collaborate with Rubrik to unite some of the nation’s top CISOs across multiple industries, including healthcare, critical infrastructure, and financial services among others. The board will help further Rubrik’s mission to facilitate information exchange and thought leadership in data security and guide its data security offering.
Members of the new CISO advisory board will be selected based on their Industry expertise, current position, and contributions to advance cybersecurity throughout their careers.

Krebs appointment follows several high-level security hires for Rubrik, including former CIA CISO, Michael Mestrovich. Over the last year, it also expanded its board of directors, adding Cisco CFO, Scott Herren and Puppet CEO, Yvonne Wassenaar.
