Scottish CSP gets funding to grow global reach

Glasgow, Scotland cloud services provider Cloud Cover IT has received a total of £325,000 in funding to help expand its business reach.

The cash has come from Scottish Enterprise, UK Steel and Business Loans Scotland. The company was founded in 2012 and it already has over 150 clients, including in Africa, Scandinavia and Ireland.

The company says the funding has already helped it create 11 jobs to support its target areas. An additional four staff will be recruited before the end of the year to boost the firm's software development and IT engineering capabilities.

The investment will be used to develop more business in growing market areas such as the industrial internet of things (IIoT), said the firm.

Cloud Cover IT says it is targeting “huge potential” in the manufacturing industry. It already supplies applications to customers in this market, including helping them analyse production data to boost efficiency and reduce production costs.

In addition to infrastructure and cloud services, the company specialises in Microsoft SharePoint data management and analytics. Its expansion in software development will see it create cloud-enabled “smart factory” mobile apps to improve manufacturing processes.

Scottish Enterprise invested £155,000, and UK Steel and Business Loans Scotland put in £85,000 each.
