Tech Data has launched a business resource group (BRG) for LGBTQ+ personnel in the UK and Ireland, as part of its commitment to encourage an inclusive workspace culture where colleagues can openly express themselves.
Named Spectrum, the group's launch aligns with Pride Month and aims to provide a forum for their UK and Ireland colleagues to discuss experiences and goals with other like-minded people.
“Tech Data is committed to maintaining a culture that celebrates diversity, equality and inclusivity. We are really looking forward to seeing how the Spectrum UK and Ireland team can make a difference to the LGBTQ+ community and all colleagues,” he said David Watts (pictured), senior vice president of UK and Ireland at Tech Data.
“We had an amazing response from colleagues who took part in our survey to help us better-understand LGBTQ+ affinity and experience within our UK&I organisation.,” Watts added.
After this month’s launch and initial meeting, Spectrum BRG will be holding a series of 30-minute drop-in sessions every single month, to discuss topics associated to LGBTQ+, including gender, coming out; openness in the workplace; and supporting LGBTQ+ children.
Other large-scale events will be held quarterly, featuring guest speakers from LGBTQ+ organisations and Q&A sessions.
