Tollring rolls out new cloud-based software to help telcos combat scam calls

UK Tollring is rolling out a new cloud-based solution that aims to help telecom providers reduce the risk of scam calls, protect their networks and customers, and meet regulatory requirements.

According to Tollring, its new Scam Protect platform uses intelligent algorithms to analyse call traffic automatically, to identify potentially suspicious fraudulent activity. CSP’s can also download data to block future calls from designated A-Party CLIs and ultimately prevent any recurrences in the future.

“Scam calls are a blight on individuals and businesses, with scammers becoming ever more sophisticated and threatening. The cost is huge, both on a personal level and financially. And now with more people working from home and more telephony conversations taking place across IP networks, the demand for protection is growing,” said Tony Martino (pictured), CEO of Tollring.

“We are helping providers to take control of call traffic as they face mounting pressure from customers and regulators to mitigate the problem. Whilst this is all about protecting customers, it is also about protecting the brand reputation of those delivering services,” he added.

By capturing information at a network level, the new cloud-based software from Tollring also offers protection against international call spoofing,  robocalling fraud, ‘smishing’ (SMS and phishing), and ‘Wangiri’ calls.

The launch of Scam Protect comes after Data from the UK’s National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) revealed that, between 2019 and 2020, £373m was lost by repeat victims of fraud.
